Who We Are

A professional organization of librarians and library workers servicing the African American communities of Philadelphia and its surrounding areas.

Our Purpose

The purpose of GOALS is to be an avenue through which Philadelphia-area African American library professionals can network, share ideas and information in a supportive environment. GOALS is to be a tool that fosters continuing education and empowerment for the Philadelphia-based African American library professional, especially in its role of interacting with the community.

Our Mission

To support library services and information resources in the Philadelphia-area African American community. GOALS serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information for the purpose of recruitment, mentoring and professional development of African Americans working in the library environment.
